A walk in the snow.

A walk in the snow:
white blankness a medicine
for my raw anguish.

The trees, the river:
merciful, benevolent
witnesses of me.

I know not, dear heart,
what happens after the snow
drifts on my footprints.

Like Sojourner Truth,
I walk, with words of fire,
uncouth honesty.
