A scintillating speck represents that tiny bit of brilliance found in everything.

About this blog: I write primarily essays and poetry about my life and anything I find compelling.  I’ve written about my personal response to environmental issues, activism, homeschooling, parenting, local food and food security, efforts to promote community resilience, Being Here Now, love, mortality, memories, feeling lost, perceiving joy, taking risks, the practice of writing, social and emotional impacts of social media, and I’ve included assorted critiques of contemporary western culture.

About me: My name is Jennifer Hartley.  I’m a mother, writer, independent learning facilitator, librarian, environmentalist, local food lover, gardener, occasional nomad, and friend.  I lived most of my life in Massachusetts, but now live in western Wisconsin.

One regret, dear world, that I am determined not to have when I am lying on my deathbed is that I did not kiss you enough.  – Hafiz
